Students of Concern Team

Emergency situations should always call 911 or 988.

A crisis situation (with a Truman student only) that needs attention but is not an emergency can be supported by Truman’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) staff.  Please call the non-emergency number at 660-665-5621.

Our Mission

The Students of Concern (SOC) Committee is a collaborative multidisciplinary team that reviews distressing, disruptive, or concerning behaviors. The SOC Committee uses a CARE (Concern, Assessment, Referral, and Education) approach to provide resources to students to promote wellbeing and student success. The CARE approach helps support the health and safety of the campus community and the coordination of information and development of support for students of concern.

Our Strategies

Our strategies are developmental in nature and are intended to assist the student in gaining greater responsibility, a sense of connection to the community, an understanding of balancing individual needs with the responsibilities of living within a community, and the skills and strategies necessary for personal growth, academic success, and persistence to graduation.
